Senior Full-Stack Engineer (TypeScript / Node.js / Next.js / MongoDB) – Gaza Healing Hotline
Healing for Humanity
Description
Healing for Humanity (healingforhumanity.world) is a nonprofit providing direct support to families and local initiatives in Gaza, including a virtual healing hotline that connects healthcare and mental-health professionals outside Gaza with people in Gaza for support and counseling.
Today the hotline exists in pieces that don't talk to each other: a Professional Portal (doctor sign-up), an Admin Panel, a Backend, a Telegram-based patient communication channel, and the main website. We're looking for a senior full-stack engineer based in Gaza to consolidate and integrate them into one working end-to-end workflow: a professional signs up, is validated, matched and onboarded, and provides support to someone in Gaza through the hotline, with the website connected to that flow.
This is a short-term freelance project: an estimated 2–4 weeks of focused work (to be validated by your own technical assessment), with a target go-live around January 1, 2027, followed by post-launch stabilization support.
Based in Gaza. Qualified women are strongly encouraged to apply; qualified men are equally welcome.
Shortlisted candidates will receive the full technical inventory and will be asked to submit a short proposal with their assessment and recommended approach.
To apply, please share your CV/profile, relevant technical experience (links to projects or repositories are a plus), and your availability.
Responsibilities
• Assess the existing setup: review the platforms, codebases, hosting and architecture, and give a grounded estimate. Recommend whether to integrate the current components as they are or to consolidate them or take a different approach.
• Integrate the components: connect the Telegram patient channel (Telegraf bot), the Admin Panel and the Professional Portal into one workflow, including automatic registration confirmation and patient sign-up information flowing to the healthcare professional.
• Add analytics and feedback: hotline utilization (patient requests, sessions per subject area, average consultation length), patient health concerns (statistics and ranking by health area, helpfulness of recommendations), a patient feedback mechanism for quality assurance, and health-worker feedback.
• Connect the hotline flow to and from the website (healingforhumanity.world).
• Test the full journey end to end: doctor sign-up → admin validation → review and onboarding → patient contact → support session.
• Provide post-launch support: fixes and adjustments during the stabilization period.
• Work largely independently, with regular check-ins with the founder, and make and defend architecture recommendations.
Out of scope: DevOps and server management (handled by the client's existing team), website branding and messaging redesign, and the longer-term telemedicine and physical healing center vision.
Requirements
• Senior, self-directed full-stack engineer who can own the whole problem without hand-holding.
• Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript, Node.js, Next.js and MongoDB (Mongoose).
• Experience building REST APIs and integrating existing applications across separate code and hosting platforms.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to make and explain technical recommendations.
• Familiarity with open-source technologies. Experience with Telegram bots (Telegraf), Jitsi Meet, SMTP/email flows or Git-based CI/CD is a plus.
• Clear communication and reliable, self-organized work habits.
• Based in Gaza, and available to start soon and deliver before the January 1, 2027 launch.
